We have had several people in our leadership classes mention how their boss’s words to them on a Friday afternoon stick with them over the weekend.
What “parting words” are you going to give your people before they leave for the weekend this afternoon?
Ideally, give them something that makes them feel respected and valued.
“Thanks for all of your hard work this week. I really appreciate it.”
“We’re now in good shape for next week’s meeting. Great job!”
“Relax and enjoy yourself this weekend. You’ve earned it.”
Whenever possible, DON’T give people negative feedback on a Friday afternoon. Many people will stress about it instead of recharging, and the details of the problem may not be retained very well.
TGIF!
