January seems to be racing by. Today’s message is basically a reminder for all of us to do the stuff that needs doing in January.
Tax prep: do you need to turn in tax info for employees and/or independent contractors? Do you need to request any docs (e.g., W-9s) from other parties?
State licensing: check to make sure you have any annual paperwork and fees submitted.
Vacation plans: do you need to remind your staffers to request their preferred summer vacation weeks? And block out your important family events (graduations, school plays, playoff games, reunions, etc.) on your work calendar now, so you don’t schedule against them.
Update dated material: does your website need an update for 2022? Check your “away” messages for your email and your voicemail—do they need to be updated?
Check in with your people: consider having a one-on-one meeting with each direct report to check in on what they might need and what they might want to do in 2022. New training? Expanded responsibilities? Interest in mentoring?
Consider adding annual reminders for any and all of these to your calendar app, so that you get the reminders again next year.
