Mentoring
Are you actively mentoring someone right now?
Take one of your team out for lunch and talk about their professional aspirations. Set up recurring meetings with each of your direct reports to get updates on what they have done on current projects, what they plan to do next, and what they want to do in the next 12 months. Use these conversations to empower them to do more as opportunities arise. Get them training or experience on projects that build toward their long-term objectives. Be a sounding board as they figure out what they want from their careers, and help them become the best versions of themselves.
