People understand that things do not always go as planned.
But people are not forgiving of leaders who go limp or passive in the face of a crisis, or who high-tail it when things get tough, or who only focus on throwing around blame when there is a problem, rather than on making things right.
You might not have all the answers. But your people will take courage from your presence. Keep going, even when the going gets tough. Keep working the problem. Be part of the solution, and encourage your people to do their part, as well. Reassure your team that “we’re going to get through this.”
Don’t abandon your people when things get hard.
