"The challenge of leadership is to be strong but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not a bully; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly." ~ Jim Rohn
You’ve probably heard people say: “You can’t please everyone.” It’s a frustrating reality. But it’s also liberating, in a way. If you know starting out that not everyone will be pleased by where you fall on these continuums, you can decide on a course of action that is right for you, and then use your emotional intelligence and communication skills to get buy-in for that course of action from as many people as reasonable. We can keep the most intense parts of our personality “on a leash,” so that we don’t overwhelm people… but be able to let it loose when appropriate, like a big, friendly dog.
