"Motivation comes from working on things we care about.
It also comes from working with people we care about." ~ Sheryl Sandberg
It’s one of those Tuesdays that feels like one of those Mondays.
If you are coming back to the office today, it may be a challenge to keep the energy up. It’s a great day to bring in a basket of fruit for the office. It’s a great day to bring in a (well-behaved, friendly) dog. It’s a great day to have that coffee flavor-adding stuff people like in the break room. And it’s a great day to bring in the best version of yourself as a leader of your team.
Build people up. Show them why what they do matters. Help them feel respected and valued for what they contribute. Give them a reason to be happy that they came in today and are coming in tomorrow.
It starts with feeling motivated ourselves. We get to do all this cool stuff! We make a difference for people. We are building a company that does good things and helps us support our families.
When we “have a case of the Mondays,” we can choose to lean into it and let our motivation slither away, or we can remind ourselves of why we first decided to do what we do. We can remind ourselves that we GET TO do all these amazing things, rather than we HAVE TO do them. We can give ourselves a little pep talk because we know we set the tone for the rest of the team, and we want them to have a positive and productive day.
I hope you have a great day in the office today.
