Simon Sinek is one of my favorite business authors.
Some of us approach opportunities thinking, “What’s in it for me?”
As leaders, that’s short-term, small thinking. It’s fine to have that thought, and to include that thought in your cost-benefit analyses, but stopping there will limit your long-term successes.
Remember to care about the team, and to include “What’s in it for THEM?” in your thought processes. It may require a conscious choice. But if you consider what THEY want as success and fulfillment in situations, and work to maximize EVERYONE’S wins, you build loyalty, morale, respect, and retention in your team. It leads to bigger, better wins in the long-term.
