Vision for the Future

Yes, we have to complete tasks to meet the upcoming deadlines. But leaders also need to be looking at the big picture. What changes are coming in the next few years, and how can we bring our people into a position to deal with those changes effectively?
Consider all relevant factors. Will your clients’ needs change? Will your technical tools change? (*cough* AI). Will your sources of funding change? Will your regulations change?
Dispassionately evaluate your people. What skills or experience do they need to develop to be ready?
Now develop that vision of your people getting ready to thrive in the changing environment. Share that vision with your people, and get them motivated to start taking the steps to get there.
