I work with many engineers and engineering firms. One of the main benefits is that a significant majority of people in this industry have high integrity; they understand and follow the science, and they tend to be risk-averse. This means that most engineering firms are pretty safe work environments these days.
I hope your own work environments will also be safe. Please get vaccinated yourself. Please encourage your staffers to get vaccinated, as well. Provide incentives to do so. If your state/local jurisdiction allows it, require vaccinations for everyone working in-person. Keep your people safe. Keep your clients safe. Keep your community safe.
Here’s the deal: we won’t get “back to normal” while people are still at risk of death. We won’t get “back to normal” when people are at risk for long-term incapacitation from “Long Covid," and while people are still worried that they could transmit a life-threatening illness to their young children. Vaccinations are the best way for this to happen, because the other way is to allow the virus to kill off millions more people, so that “only the strong survive.” Many young children are not among the “strong,” and now we have Delta-variant-infected children on ventilators in many states. I’m not okay with allowing millions to sicken and die, not when we have access to a highly-effective vaccine. And the more Covid is allowed to spread, the more likely we are to get a mutation that is even more contagious and lethal.
Fight misinformation by using credible research sources, such as:

As leaders, we need to lead on this issue. This isn’t about politics; it’s about having the ability to save innocent lives… and then doing it.
