Thanksgiving Week
The week of Thanksgiving is a weird one for work.
Some people try to cram a week’s work of productivity into the 2-3 days they’ll be in the office. Working parents have to find ways to care for kids who are out of school for some or all of the week. In recent times, some people end up working remotely from their in-laws’ guest room two states over. And people have to deal with traveling, cooking, hosting, etc. on top of their regular responsibilities.
Make sure that you and your team communicate about everyone’s expectations. This is a week in which the work/life balancing act needs some adjustment. And it may also help to have a contingency plan for next Monday, in case people have flight cancellations or other weather-related travel issues.
Oh, and a reminder: Aim to get all of the end-of-the-month things (payroll, timesheets, paperwork, etc.) done before you head out, because when we come back next week it’ll already be December.
