Spotlight Your Talented Performers
Don't take credit for their efforts
Make sure you praise your people’s talents and efforts… to them, to company leadership, to clients, etc.
Yes, you were in charge of that successful project. But you have a team of people, and they put in the efforts. They were at their computers or in the field. They solved problems or covered the bases.
Celebrate their successes. Acknowledge their efforts, especially when they have gone above-and-beyond. Put notes in their files for their next performance reviews. Give them a spot-bonus. Give them a regular bonus. If they consistently do well, make sure you pay them in ways that reflect that.
They feel valued, respected, and appreciated, and you look really classy. It’s a win-win.
