Respect
“Respect, when demonstrated consistently, is one of the most important things a leader can do. It helps ease tensions and conflict, fosters trust, and improves your effectiveness.” ~ Micela Leis
If you would like people to respect you as a leader, make sure you act in ways that earn that respect.
Treat your people with respect for them as people, as professionals, and as contributors to the project.
Act with integrity and do the right thing, even when it is not the easy thing.
Be fair to all of your people when assigning responsibilities and rewards.
Acknowledge extra efforts and address underperformance promptly.
