Reliance on Technology
Many of us work in technical fields. What do we do when the tech breaks?
It’s a good idea to have a backup plan, of course, and the time to make that plan is BEFORE the <bleep> hits the fan.
Make frequent backups. Store them away from the computer that was backed up (external drives in a fireproof safe, secure cloud backup, etc.). Have a plan for access if the building where the computers are had a fire and was either burned to ashes or blocked off for days/weeks due to hazards or an investigation. Do you still have access to your files and systems?
Have secure systems and licenses that allow access from a second computer, just in case the laptop you have the license on falls down a stairwell.
Have more than one person who knows how to access the tech (passwords, etc.), just in case that person also falls down that stairwell along with the laptop.
