Life is too short to constantly exhaust yourself for work.
Sometimes work does require a push or extra effort. But that should be a few times a year, not every week.
Unfortunately, many of us are still acting in a “crisis” mode. We are working extra hours to “catch up” after the pandemic and cover for being short-staffed.
It is not sustainable long-term.
Check in with yourself, and consider leaving yourself a “Things to do when I get in on Monday” list on your desk or work computer. And then… go home. Have a relaxing weekend. Sleep. Spend time with the loved ones you are working to support. Pet your dog.
And encourage your people to do the same. We are seeing a lot of burnout lately. Let’s all do our part to help our people recover.
