Amazon’s Prime Day (Days?) is here, and they are getting a ton of free publicity for this “shopping holiday” they have created.
Whether you love Amazon or hate Amazon, you have to acknowledge their success. This is a business that started as a bookstore, and it has scaled to become a massive global influence.
They are so big, they have created their own holiday. Who else (other than major religions or nation-states) does that?
Amazon became Amazon by having a visionary who saw the potential of doing something new.
Now, most of us probably aren’t going to launch a multi-billion-dollar-generating juggernaut, but we might see the potential to make something new, something different, something better. We might see the potential for a new revenue stream, or a new place for geographic expansion, or a better way to do the thing our firm has always done.
Kick the idea around; develop a vision for what it would be like to implement; figure out what steps you’d need to take to get from where you are now to where you want to be; figure out what could go wrong, so you can prevent those negative outcomes and/or minimize the damage, and then… DO IT.
It might be the best decision you ever make.
