“Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.”
~ Will Rogers
Do you know your firm’s strategic plan? If so, is there something you and your team need to DO to make it happen?
Most strategic initiatives fall short of expectations. The committee comes up with some good ideas, and they buy-in, but things don’t get implemented.
If you have a strategic plan—especially if you genuinely believe things will be better when an initiative is achieved—consider what you can do to move things forward.
Schedule a check-in meeting with the people assigned to work on it
If people have not been assigned to work on it, assign someone!
Block off some time on your calendar to work on it yourself
Set some milestone dates or deadlines for the next portion of the process
Ideally, find a “quick-fix” action item that can be done in the next week or so, an give the initiative some momentum
A strategic plan that sits unopened on an office shelf isn’t doing anyone any good.
