Making Leaders
“Leaders are made rather than born.” ~ Warren Bennis
Everyone has the capacity to be an effective leader in something. But what that “something” is will vary from person to person.
Give your people opportunities to discover talents they may have for leadership. Some people are great team-builders; they bring people together and lead them in achieving a common goal. Some people are inspiring; they convey the message in ways that get other people on-board. Some people are teachers and mentors; they help other people understand the how and the why and build skills and understanding in others. Some people are “tip-of-the-spear” folks who “take point” when there is a challenge. Some people walk the walk; they are role models who lead by example.
Start with the person’s gifts and interests and build from there.
