Do you have any questions? How do you feel about that? Can I get your input? What’s going on with the project? Will that work for you? Is there a better way to do this? Where do you want your career to be in five years? Would you like me to show you how this works?
Leaders need to listen their direct reports. Have an open-door policy, or have office hours, or schedule regular check-ins, or otherwise make sure you get a chance to get the benefits of their knowledge, insights, or experiences.
We don’t have all the answers. Check in with your people to see if they can teach YOU something, as well as if they need information or direction from you.
