Leaders need to get their team from where it is now to where it needs to be.
To do this effectively, start by having a vision for success. What do you want it to be when it’s accomplished? Then share that vision and your “big picture” plan for how to get there. Get input from your team to refine and improve that plan. Build buy-in on the team—get your people to want to be a part of it. And then—start doing it!
What gets measured gets done. Make sure that you keep your people motivated and on-track over the months of a change initiative. Have simple metrics to measure progress.
What gets rewarded gets repeated. Reward success! Make sure that individuals who do their part are praised and rewarded. Reward good efforts. Reward teams that do their part. Reward hitting goals and reward hitting milestones.
