“The most dangerous leadership myth is that leaders are born—that there is a genetic factor to leadership. That's nonsense; in fact, the opposite is true. Leaders are made rather than born.” ~ Warren Bennis
There are many ways in which people can be effective leaders, and everyone has the capacity to be an effective leader at something.
Where are your skills and abilities going to be best used? Some people are team-builders. Some people are go-to experts in some area. Some people are coaches and mentors. Some people are visionaries that show others a better path.
Use your natural strengths as the basis of your leadership style, and then grow your skills to be effective beyond that basic level. And always look for ways to bring out the leadership talents in the people around you. Grow the skills of more junior staffers to help them develop into senior staffers.
