Lead from Your Comfort Zone
“It’s hard to lead a cavalry charge if you think you look funny on a horse.”
~ Adlai Stevenson
Confidence is important in your leadership role. Make sure you give yourself what you need to be confident enough to lead.
Use a short meeting to build consensus for your plan.
Run the numbers or other analysis to make sure you know you’re right.
Verify that your people have what they need to do the job and that you are setting them up for success.
Anticipate where problems could occur and think up work-around solutions.
If you know you have a good idea and that your people are ready, willing, and able to do what they need to do, you can authentically lead from your comfort zone. And your people will respond much better than if you have a “fake it ‘til you make it” attitude.
