Effective leaders are dependable.
Set the standards for your team.
If you say you will do it by Thursday, do it by Thursday.
If you are not taking calls, tell your people that they can say you are unavailable—don’t say, “Tell them I’m not here.”
Don’t tolerate unethical behavior on your team. Talk privately with the individual to get their side of things, and let them know your expectations. You might give someone a second chance, but don’t give them a third.
