Most strategic initiatives fall short. They may be good ideas. People may know they are good ideas. But they get postponed and put off and “maybe I can find some time to do it next week,” and eventually they fade as priorities as people focus on short-term deadlines.
This is a reminder to consider the strategic initiatives of your organization. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but:
Schedule that meeting
Check in with the committee members
Talk to the CEO
Get updates from your direct reports
Go back and actually look at that strategic plan to refresh your memory
Too often, good ideas fail. If you have a good idea in-hand, perhaps it’s time to make it a reality.
