I’ve read a lot of leadership and management books, and I have a few favorites that I re-read and recommend to others. One that is a short-yet-impactful read is Listen Up, Leader! by David Cottrell:
What I like about this book:
It is a super-short read that is chock-full of “I never even thought of that!” insights about leadership integrity. It’s also written to intentionally hold the attention of busy/short-attention-span people, including a visually dynamic layout that prevents the text from running together.
We include this book as assigned reading for many of our leadership classes, and we have class discussions about the key takeaways that people get from it. Often, class participants go out and get additional copies for some of their coworkers (and for their bosses!).
If you’ve never read it, consider picking up a copy. If you have read it, you might want to take a few minutes and give yourself a refresher, since it can have a clarifying and inspiring effect on enhancing our decisions to lead with high integrity.
