Give Credit to Your People
You don’t have all of the ideas. You don’t NEED to have all of the ideas.
In fact, if you are claiming ALL of the good ideas are your own, you look like you don’t know how to hire good people.
Give credit to your people for their good ideas! Let the client know that “Nick did some digging and found a better way for us to get you what you need” or let the CEO know that “Jennifer recommended this app, and it has been working so well for the whole team.”
You don’t lose face by doing this—you look like an awesome boss when you do this. People see that you are getting great ideas out of your team. Your team looks great when you do this. Morale stays high when your people get this validation.
