Get Input
“None of us is as smart as all of us.” ~ Ken Blanchard
Your people are on your team for a reason. Make sure that decisions involve two-way communication. Get their input. Ask for their ideas and suggestions. Bring them into brainstorming sessions. present your “draft” plan and ask them how it can be improved.
You are not abdicating your decision-making responsibility, of course. The final decision is yours. But including more than your own thoughts in the process means you are less likely to miss the best options. It also helps train the next generation of leaders to solve problems.
