Be the best version of yourself at the office. Communicate well with your people. Do the right thing, even when no one is watching. Follow through on your commitments. Empower your people to do more and to grow their confidence and competence.
And keep the balance. Going full-throttle 24/7 is unsustainable, and sometimes life throws complications in your path. Be present and “on” when you are in the office, but place limits on your availability so that you can also have a life outside work and get enough sleep. You don’t have to do it all, or be in every meeting, or green-light every decision. Give your people opportunities to impress you. If you have built up your people, you can trust them to keep things running smoothly while you deal with that family emergency or take your kid to college.
