When complimented on a job well done, remember to give acknowledgement to all of the contributors.
COMMENT: “Great work on the X project!”
GOOD RESPONSE: “Thanks! We have an amazing team!”
NOT SO GOOD: “I know.”
It doesn’t diminish you as a success to include deserving partners in the praise. It elevates you as a leader. And when you get back to that team, share the message. “The CEO stopped me in the hall to tell me what a great job this team did on the X project. Great work, everyone!”
A good complement can land multiple times.
