Communication
“The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.” ~ George Bernard Shaw
We tend to communicate to others the way we would like to be communicated to. For some people, our meaning is clearly transmitted this way. But we may miss the mark with many others.
Make sure your communication is two-way. Confirm their understanding. Confirm your understanding of them.
Make sure that your words and your nonverbals match up. For example, don’t say “great job” with a scowl and crossed arms—many people will actually be demotivated by the nonverbal message, and you will lose credibility as a leader with them.
