Building Confidence
“My own definition of leadership is this: the capacity and the will to rally men and women to a common purpose and the character which inspires confidence.”
~ General Montgomery
Your people should be able to look to you and think, “I can follow this person—they know what they are doing, and they have good intentions.”
People want to have confidence in those they follow. Be that kind of leader.
Demonstrate your integrity in everything you do and say.
Develop a vision for what you want for the team, and share that vision with them. Let them know what you are authentically trying to accomplish.
Make sure you have what you need to speak with confidence and get things in motion. If that means you have to plan things out in advance or do your research, do that. If it means you need to run ideas by trusted advisors and get their buy-in, do that. But get what you need to be authentically on-board with the plan—many of your people will be able to tell if you are faking it.
