When we teach our leadership classes, we start out by telling the participants that we don’t want them to change who they are.
Authentic leaders figure out who they are and work to become the best versions of themselves. Don’t try to be someone you’re not. Figure out who you are, and then bring out the best traits that come with that. Keep traits that can get in the way of your success (flaws, weaknesses, or “overdone strengths”) on a leash.
Be yourself, but make choices that bring out the best version of yourself.
