It’s Friday in August, which means that, if you call someone in many industries to discuss a project, there’s a decent chance you are going to hear their voicemail message.
People are on vacation for the week, or taking a PTO day, or working summer hours, or working on a hybrid commuting plan, or keeping a 4/9-4 schedule to have a half-day on Friday, or otherwise just not picking up.
People love this. Having flexible hours—having more time for their LIFE, rather than having it consumed by work—leads to better morale, better motivation, better retention, better mental health, and you’ll get more of their best efforts when they are in the office.
This goes for you, too. Recharge this weekend. Turn off the alarms and sleep in. Spend time with people you love. Do something fun. If you do, you’ll be in a better frame of mind when you get back in on Monday.
