Achievable Successes
Inspire your people to do good work and help them grow their competencies.
But don’t burn them out by asking for too much too often. Help them pace themselves. Don’t reward your top performers with more work—distribute the responsibilities fairly.
You can ask people to do more than they have done before, but do it with an incremental, step-wise growth plan that sets them up to expand their capacities. And when they do go above-and-beyond, make sure you give them real and meaningful compensation (bonuses, promotions, etc.) as well as your genuine praise.
